This is the finished piece of Jl Pasar Ikan junction, Tg Pinang. This street is the main thoroughfare in Tg Pinang.
It is painted on-location on the flesh side of leather which is very absorbent making it very challenging to apply watercolour on it. The moment my brush comes in contact with surface the leather soaked up the medium making it almost impossible to push the colour pigment around. Gotta spend more time and effort to court and tame this substrate...and how to coax it to accept watercolour and ink. This piece is 50 by 40 cm.

This is a piece was done in Kluang, Johor, Malaysia during the Travel Sketching Symposium on 28 Nov - 2 Dec 2018. The leather is a little coarser making it even more challenging than my 1st piece of Jl Pasar Ikan, Tg Pinang, Indonesia. The texture of the leather plays a vital role in the rendering as I was using a fountain pen for the execution of both pieces. Each piece done is a new learning experience and encounter with leather. This piece is 32 by 25 cm.
